Decanter world wine awards 2009 - the winners
The Purple Wine Company is very pleased to announce all the following wines which received awards at the recent Decanter World Wine Awards.
The awards are seen by many in the industry as the leading judge ofquality wines across the globe. Congratulations to all the producers who received awards for their dedication and hard work. The Purple Wine Company were also excited to see so many of our wines receive awards, we believe it goes to prove just how dedicated we are to listing quality wines.

Decanter Trophy Award - 'Best International Dry Aromatic White under £10' - Tapiz Torrontes 2008
Tasting notes: “A spicy and floral nose that delivers refreshing dryness on the palate. Rose petal, primrose, ginger, smoke, citrus, expertly balanced acidity and some honeysuckle on the finish.”
Decanter Trophy Award - 'Best International Pinot Noir under £10' - Santa Helena Pinot Noir 2008
Tasting notes: “Ripe cherry, violets, chocolate, a hint of minerality and a touch of oak. Deep and sweetly-fruited, exuberant cherry. Creamy, warm, full-bodied and soft - lots to get stuck into and lots to like. A knife-and-fork Pinot!”
Decanter Trophy Award - 'Best White Burgundy over £10' - Meursault 1er Cru Les Charme, Domaine du Pavillon Bichot 2007
Tasting notes: “Butter, canteloupe melon, toast and cream - plenty of bold oak. Full, fat and ripe with a nice defining acidity to keep freshness over the intense nutty sur-lie character. Well-integrated and lengthy.”
Decanter Silver Award - Toso Chardonnay 2008
Tasting notes: “Attractive smoky notes. Complex, lifted white tropical fruits. Fruit flavours very well-integrated”
Decanter Silver Award - Toso Malbec 2008
Tasting notes: “Inky purple. Nice blackcurrants, chocolate good intensity, some spices. well-integrated. Young and vibrant, good length”
Decanter Bronze Award - Amarone della Valpolicella Bennati 2005
Tasting notes: “Interesting aromatic nose of dried fruit, leather and spice. Clean, ripe fruit, very elegant and restrained style. Supple tannins”
Decanter Bronze Award - Highfield Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2008
Tasting notes: “Floral nose. Pronounced but balanced lemon and lime fruit on the palate”
